A long time ago…

1/8/2010 – 1st Comp gathering in Huzza carpark

Back in 2010, after watching the number of kids surfing around the Gracetown area swell, local Rhys Jones enlisted the help of fellow surfing fathers Lucas Englert, Christo Edwards, Peter Stanlake and Dave McCashney to brainstorm the idea of a Junior Surf Board Riders Club.

And so it began….. Straight away, the emphasis for the club was “Good Family Fun”

The Club held its first ever competition way back on 1st August 2010, focussing on participation, encouragement and family involvement. Final results from our 1st Comp were;

2011

In 2011, the club initiated its first club calendar for the year, and was able to put together 2 divisions, which would stand for the following 3years, being U13’s and U11’s.

The Club started to broaden its membership base, with kids coming in from Margaret River, Cowaramup and Prevelly.

2012

The club held its 1st ever Membership drive, bringing in future champions of the club, and managed to hold 6 competitions over the year, to cater for it’s ever expanding members with Perpetual Trophies for both divisions, rewarded Most Improved for both Divisions, and gave Perpetual Trophies for Best Clubman, and Club Hellman.

The Club continued to grow, and moved the division age groups to cater for the aging kids; U14’s became U15’s, and U11’s became U13’s, with new champions being crowned in both divisions. The Club also introduced for the 1st time, a Novice division where parents were able to assist the young kids onto waves

2014

2014 saw a change in Presidency with Lucas Englert taking over from inaugural President, Rhys Jones so see in a new era.

The club saw the return of the family fun day / membership drive, which drew new families in from the Dunsborough and Yallingup regions.

The Club again changed its divisions, to align with Surfing WA, now offering Novice, U12’s, U14’s and U16’s to its many members. New, amazing perpetual trophies were made up by Andrew Hancock and the club received many donations from generous surf shops and companies to hold it’s biggest ever Xmas Party.
